Stir Up the Gifts Saturday
(as received by Deacon Stan Cor; shared with permission)
“For this reason, I remind you to stir into flame the gift God bestowed when my hands were laid on you. The spirit God has given us is no cowardly spirit, but rather one that makes us strong, loving and wise (with a strong ordered mind). (2 Tim. 1:6-7)”
The gifts of the Holy Spirit were given to us in baptism and confirmation, but for far too many the gifts remain dormant, unknown & unwrapped. That is not the way it is supposed to be. All of My people are meant to be on fire with the Holy Spirit & flowing generously in the exercise of the spiritual gifts. How else can we be and do all that the Lord Jesus has promised us and commanded us? He said, ‘go make disciples of all the nations, heal the sick, cast out demons, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, and more.
Stir up the gifts God has bestowed on you!
(Mt. 28:16-20; Mark 16:15-20; Acts 1:4-9; John 14:10-18; Luke 9:1-6; Luke 10:1-8, 17-20; Isaiah 61:1-4)
“The Holy Spirit is freely given to all who ask the Father in My Name. I said in Luke 11:13, ‘If you being sinful men know how to give good things to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.’ I also told the apostles to wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit came down on them for they would receive power from on high when He would come. They waited in prayer together & on Pentecost Holy Spirit sovereignly came upon them & within them. They all spoke in tongues as Holy Spirit gave them utterance and they received other gifts of the Holy Spirit such as prophecy, word of knowledge, word of wisdom, discerning of spirits, ecstatic praise and boldness in proclaiming the Good News of salvation. Thus the Church was born in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit & the release of the gifts of the Spirit.
Today is no different. The Church, each of My people need the same Holy Spirit power and boldness in the exercise of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Earnestly desire & seek after the baptism in & with the Holy Spirit; earnestly desire all the gifts of the Spirit for you need all the power, boldness, gifts and graces that He bestows.
Be filled with the Holy Spirit more & more. Stir up the gifts you received at baptism & confirmation. Stir them up & put them to use for the work I call you to do. Now is the time to stir up the gifts of the Spirit & to let Him make you a sign & a wonder, & work signs, wonders, healing & miracles thru you.
Stir up & use the gifts bestowed on you that Abba may be glorified in you, My disciples.”
