Holy Spirit Sunday – Feast of Jesus’ Baptism

(as received by Deacon Stan Cor; shared with permission)

“When I had been baptized by John and was praying, the heavens opened and the Holy Spirit came down upon Me, filling Me, baptizing Me in Holy Spirit and fire. Abba, Father, spoke clearly to Me, ‘You are My beloved Son in Whom is all My delight.” I needed both the baptism in the Holy Spirit and the affirmation of Abba’s love for and delight in Me. Holy Spirit empowered Me for the mission Father gave Me. Father’s love and affirmation gave Me the confidence to step out on My mission as difficult as it would be.
Each of you who are Mine also need to hear Abba tell you that you are His beloved son or daughter in whom He delights. Each of you needs to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, gifted and empowered by Him for the mission you were created and called to fulfill. I needed both encounters; how much more do you need these encounters, life-changing encounters. Be filled with and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Hear Abba Daddy tell you that He loves you and delights in you. Be firm and steadfast in His love, confidently offering yourself as an instrument of His grace and mercy to others.
You need Holy Spirit. He will touch you, change you and rearrange you. He will teach, guide and guard you. He will reveal Me and the Father to you. Be baptized in the Holy Spirit as I was.”

Welcome Holy Spirit. Welcome in this place & into our hearts & lives. Holy Spirit we need You; I need You. Jesus made it clear that without You we are without power to live the Christian life & to be His witnesses. Paul VI wrote that Holy Spirit is the primary agent of evangelization.
So we cry out, “Holy Spirit, come in power & glory. Come make us all that we were created to be. Empower us to fully accomplish all that we are destined to do for the glory of God & the blessing of those we are called to love & serve. Welcome Holy Spirit. Have Your way with us always. Holy Spirit, come!”
In Acts 2 You came on the day of Pentecost. In Acts 4 You came again. We are to be continually being filled with You, Holy Spirit. Keep coming upon us & within us with great power, glory grace & gifting. Alleluia!!
