The Best is Yet to Come
What a wonderful and beautiful promise! It is God’s promise to us, and God’s promise to me.
This is a special year in that my husband and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. Our first year was a wonderful year of getting to know each other, buying our first home, welcoming our first child. The years, the homes and the children followed and our love has grown and blossomed. But no matter how good all of those other years have been, this is the year that God has promised, “And the best is yet to come.”
Yesterday’s gospel reading at church was the wedding at Cana when Jesus changed the water into wine. Not just any wine, but the best wine. Usually at a wedding feast the best wine was served first, but now Jesus had provided a better wine. Before church I came across the picture above and when, during the homily, Father said that in a marriage with Jesus, even though you thought you had the best at the beginning, Jesus has promised that “the best is yet to come.”
It was no coincidence, but God’s way of speaking to me and letting me know that this was His promise to us this coming year. What a wonderful and beautiful promise!
God is good.
